do your replies actually turn into friends?

a reply is a conversation, not a chore

do your replies actually turn into friends?

a lot of people treat replies like a chore. a number to hit, then done

try looking at it another way: a reply is a conversation with someone you already know, or someone you want to know

and the code behind the X algorithm backs that up more than you'd expect. here's how to do it, and what the code says

a reply is a conversation

when you reply, you're not "engaging". you're talking to a friend, or someone you'd like to be friends with

that changes what you write:

  • you share an opinion
  • you ask them something
  • you add something from your own life
  • you come back when they answer

a "great post 🔥" is nice, but nobody can really start a conversation off of it

a reply someone can answer sounds more like: "the part about pricing hit. how did you land on your first number?"

watch them before you comment

don't go comment on a bunch of random accounts. watch people first. see what they're about, see if you actually resonate with them, then go from there

and don't put a number on it. no "100 replies a day". meaningful conversations with the right people do more for your account than any random number these self-proclaimed gurus can

what the X algorithm code says about it

X open-sourced part of the code that ranks your For You feed (Github).

for every post, it guesses what each person might do with it, and adds those guesses up. some of the weights:

  • a like = 0.66
  • a repost = 1
  • someone following you from the post = 4
  • a reply = 5
  • someone copying your link to send it = 20
  • a reply from a mutual (you follow each other) on your original post = 5 + 15 = 20

look at that last one. a reply from a mutual ties the heaviest thing on the list, someone copying your link to send to a friend

that extra 15 only works on original posts. not on your replies, not on reposts

so here's how it connects:

  • you make mutuals by talking to people in their replies
  • once you follow each other, their replies on your own posts count the most

have your agent do this

if you want help finding your people, give your agent this:

Look at the last 50 accounts I replied to or had a conversation with on X. List the ones I talk to most who don't follow me back yet, and the ones who follow me that I don't follow back. For each, show me their latest original post and tell me 1 real insight I could add to it from my own experience. Don't write or post the reply for me.

then go have the conversation yourself!!
